Health Benefits of a Vape Pen vs Cigarettes

Smoking cigarettes is extremely dangerous for your overall health. In spite of being aware of this fact, many people still continue smoking. It is not that they do not want to quit. It is just that they simply cannot quit. Of late, you must have seen people, especially youngsters, smoking a special type of cigarette which produces very less smoke. These are e-cigarettes and have become a trend amongst youngsters. However, the major question is whether these quality vape pens are safer than the actual cigarettes or not. Another point that haunts your brain is whether these modern age cigarettes are a simple gateway for kids to start a smoking habit.

What Is Vaping?

Smoking on an e-cigarette is termed as vaping. However, vaping is comparatively new in the market and has been around for just over a decade. In spite of being around for such a long time, there are many people who are unaware of the term vaping.

Smoking vs Vaping

It is true that whether you take in vapor or combusted smoke, you are causing damage to your lungs. The intensity of the damage is obviously dependent upon various other reasons combined. It is true that the health implications associated with smoking is are more clearly outlined and defined that with the case of vaping. Here are some of the basic differences between the two and the health dangers associated with them.

Chemicals You Intake While Smoking

When you smoke a cigarette, the process starts off with the combustion of tobacco. This tobacco contains thousands of dangerous chemicals, out of which around 20 are serious associated with causing cancer. These 20 chemicals are often referred together as carcinogens. Some of the chemicals in this list of 20 most dangerous ones include nicotine, hydrogen cyanide, lead, arsenic, benzene, formaldehyde, nitrosamines, carbon monoxide, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

Chemicals You Intake While Vaping

The main process of vaping gets rid of the need to burn or combust anything specific. As a result of this, a number of harmful chemicals, listed above, get removed. There have been several studies made on the vapor produced from vaping. According to these studies, there is a major difference in the number of carcinogens found as compared to smoking. As opposed to over 20 found in smoking, just a few were found in vaping. Some of these include nicotine, propylene, vegetable glycerin, acetaldehyde, and nitrosamines.

Since many years smoking has caused large-scale health damages all over the globe. As a result of this, lots of different legislation has been set up in order to prevent the more serious risks of smoking. However, apart from health risks, smoking can also be a primary cause of several types of property damages. There are several things at home that can easily catch a fire due to a lit cigarette

On the other hand, compared to smoking, vaping is said to be less dangerous to the overall health. Nonetheless, there are problems associated with vaping, as well. This is largely associated with the batteries exploding, which can prove to be rather dangerous for you.

Opiate Withdrawal Timelines, Symptoms and Treatment

The way your brain responds to pain stimuli is highly altered with the help of opiates. It can also result in a high feeling due to disruption of the pleasure and reward centers of your brain. The entire central nervous system, which includes your cardiovascular, brain, and respiratory systems, has opioid receptors which receive opiate drugs. These drugs can bring about a large array of emotional and physical effects. When you consume such drugs, your respiration, heart rate, body temperature, and blood pressure get lowered and your pleasant feeling gets aroused. Addiction towards such drugs can easily hamper the normal functions of the brain towards such drugs. This will lead to more psychological and physical dependency on opiate drugs.

Opiate Withdrawal Symptoms

The withdrawal symptoms of opiate may differ from one person to another. It may range from mild to severe, which largely depends on how seriously addicted the person is towards opioid drugs. The dependency level can largely depend on the time duration for taking a specific drug, the actual dosage amount, the type of drug taken, the way the drug was taken, and several other factors. The withdrawal symptoms may be categorized according to different timelines.

Early Withdrawal Symptoms: These symptoms normally start within a time gap of 6 hours to 12 hours for short-acting opiates. However, these start within 30 hours for longer acting opiates. These may include tearing up, agitation, muscle aches, anxiety, excessive yawning, trouble either falling or staying asleep, racing heartbeats, running nose, hypertension, fever, and sweats.

Late Withdrawal Symptoms: These usually peak within a time span of 72 hours and last almost a week. These may include diarrhea, vomiting and nausea, drug cravings, stomach cramps, depression, and goosebumps.

In some cases, the psychological withdrawal symptoms, as well as, cravings for opioid drugs may even last longer than a week. The psychological support and therapy offered by a mental health professional can easily help lower the symptoms and side effects of such types of withdrawals.

Medical Detox

If you do proper research work, you will come to know that there are several options when it comes to treatment and detoxification of opioids from your entire body. However, there may be some options which will provide you with a more comprehensive model as compared to others. One of the most reliable amongst them is a medical detox option. It basically comprises of both psychological and pharmacological treatment methods, which is mainly performed under the eagle eyes of a medical and mental health specialist. Medical detox is performed in a comforting and safe residential setting. On the other hand, standard detox programs can be performed in an outpatient basis, as well.

It is true that opiate withdrawals can be a rather uncomfortable feeling. However, with the help of medical detox programs, you can easily get a safe and smooth way of overcoming the addiction. In this detox program, your body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and respiration levels are closely monitored, which help experts prescribe proper medications to regulate the body and brain functions.

It is often seen that mental health professionals can easily evaluate and stabilize different individuals during a medical detox program. Although there is no specific timeline for the program, normally medical detox programs last between 5 and 7 days.

Medical Detox as a Part of the Entire Treatment Plan

It is needless to say that addiction of any type is both a chronic and relapsing disease, which involves both emotional and physical side effects, as well as, symptoms. This is why the treatment has to be a comprehensive one. Medical detox programs are relatively short scale programs and can prove to be the stepping stones for a more stable recovery plan. It is quite common to find that people, suffering from any type of addiction, may often suffer from a relapse. If you do not use a specific drug for a long time, your tolerance level towards those drugs will definitely get reduced. However, a relapse after a detox can prove to be very dangerous, since it may result in an overdose.

Amongst all the reasons for an injury death in the US, drug overdose is a major cause. According to a recent data published by ASAM or American Society of Addiction Medicine, almost 100 people die of a drug overdose on a daily basis and almost 46 die every day due to opioid overdose in the US. According to The New York Times, compared to any other drug or medication, opioids are the cause of most of the deaths. One of the best solutions to this problem is to opt for a medical detox program which can easily help you smooth out the withdrawal, prevent any serious complications, reduce various side effects, and also help reduce drug cravings in individuals. This can go a great distance in helping you recover and also maintain sobriety for a long time.

Common Medicines That Can Help With Opiate Withdrawals

There are some medicines which can help you overcome opiate withdrawals in a very simple manner.

Methadone: This helps to relieve you from withdrawals symptoms and also assists with the medical detox program. Methadone is also used by many experts as a long-term maintenance drug for people suffering from opioid dependency. Once the maintenance period of over, the dosage can gradually be decreased. However, there are many cases wherein people are prescribed methadone for several years.

Buprenorphine: This drug also treats withdrawal from opiates and can also successfully shorten the time taken in a detox program. Just like methadone, buprenorphine can also be used on a long-term basis for maintenance purposes. This drug can also be combined with naloxone in order to prevent misuse and dependence.

There are several rehab centers you will come across if you try to find them and this is a great site for answers relating to opiate detox. However, when it comes to getting proper and serious help with any type of addiction, you should always take your time and choose the best. After all, it is a matter of your own health.

They will allow you to find a good source of nutrients whenever needed and they will also prove to be an interesting solution when it comes to a modern drink which can ensure you get your daily recommended fats.

Many people associate fats with a negative impact on their health. But in reality, fats will prove very important for good health. Both men and women need fats. While women have a naturally higher fat percentage in their bodies, men need fats to regulate testosterone. Thus, a functional body always needs a small percentage of fat. The saturated fats in coconut oil recommend the ingredient as a top source in the good chain.

2. More Energy

Energy is essential to your daily activities. In the case of coconut oil and coffee, it comes from two sources. Coffee is known for its energy source and can be a recommended solution when it comes to a boost of energy. Even more, the added coconut oil can prove to be a good option when it comes to an energy source, but which will be slow-releasing. Thus, you may even have a lasting energy source with the combination.

3. Eat Less

Coconut oil has been used in various weight loss diets. But its added calories to your coffee can also act to reduce the feeling of hunger. While you should not use the drink to starve yourself or to keep foods away, it can be one of the drinks which can inhibit hunger. For some people, this may be important in some situations, but you should try to have a balanced diet even before you have the drink yourself.

4. Better Digestion

Coffee and coconut oil have been used as top ingredients when it comes to digestion. This is why it will actually prove important to know what to look for when it comes to a modern approach to digestion. Since there are so many options to choose from, these two ingredients will prove to also come with an antioxidant role and they can even fight bacteria which will only add to the improved health of your digestive system.

5. Improved Focus

Coffee will prove to be one of the best drinks for added focus. One cup of coffee per day can come as a great adjuvant for your brain’s focusing capacity. Caffeine has been used in various forms for this purpose.

The Limitations of Coconut Oil in Coffee

When it comes to drinking coffee with coconut oil every day, you will have to know that the combination also comes with a few drawbacks. Added calories, saturated fats and hunger suppression can represent real problems if you consume the drink in excess.

Saturated Fats in Excess

If you drink too many coffees with coconut oil every day, you will overpass the recommended saturated fats limit. According to some recommendations, up to 13 grams of saturated fats per day should be consumed by the average adult. Of course, this will also depend on each individual and even on their activity levels. But this means that you should not have more than one tablespoon of saturated fats each day.

So why is this? Saturated fats can have a negative impact on your cardiovascular health. Practically, many of the saturated fats will be stored as fat by your body and they will not be necessarily used for energy. This means that you will have the ability to choose which types of fats to consume every day and you will need to carefully control the quantities. This will mean that you will also get the opportunity to work with a daily dosage as you should not drink more than 3-4 cups of coffee per day anyway.

At the end of the day, if you want to maximize the consumption of coconut oil you can reduce the consumption of saturated fats from other sources and this will prove an easy alternative to many of the problems which can come with an increased consumption of fats.

Caloric Limitations

Many people don’t know exactly what to expect with coconut oil and calories. This is where they will be shocked to know that it comes with 862 calories with 100 grams and this makes it one of the most caloric foods you can find. Practically, it represents one of the main concerns when it comes to weight management.

When it comes to caloric needs, most adults are around 2.000 calories per day from the main meals and snacks. This will put into good perspective the actual number of just 100 grams of coconut oil. Even more, it will actually prove important to know what to expect when looking for a viable daily drink.

With a simple calculation, a tablespoon of coconut oil will come with the maximum saturated fats for a day. At the same time, 100 grams of coconut oil will equate to more than 800 calories. This means that you will need proper caloric control and this is why it will be important to see which people should actually avoid the drink.

The first group would obviously involve people who are trying to lose weight or obese people. Their dietary characteristics will not involve such a high caloric food as coconut oil every day. Even more, it will also prove important to know where to look for real alternatives for this group of people as coffee can still come as a metabolism booster and as a great source of a higher burning caloric rate.

People who are on strict diets for health reasons should also proceed with caution when it comes to a good caloric intake. This is why you may even want to consider discussing the idea with your doctor.

It Kills Hunger

One of the main problems with fatty foods such as coconut oil represents the hunger suppressing feeling they can come with. You may as well discover that actually consuming coconut oil will not be beneficial when it comes to a healthy nutrition. This is due to the fact that it will seriously limit your appetite.

While many people think this is a good idea for weight loss purposes, it is actually very different as it is not beneficial to your health. If you are looking to lose weight, you should simply strive to eat healthier foods and burn the excess with extra physical activity. At the same time, it will also be important to consider that meal-replacing drinks are not a good idea in the long term. They lack the nutrition and the fibers needed for a healthy digestive system.

This is why you will need to see if the coconut oil coffee is a good idea for you. Of course, if you only have the drink once or twice per week, this may not represent such a huge problem. At the same time, it will be important to see how many times you want to consume the drink yourself.

How Often Should You Consume the Drink?

This brings you to the actual recommended dosage and consumption per week. Since coconut oil is not part of your regular diet, it may even come with extra drawbacks than to some people used to its consumption from birth. This type of evolutionary nutrition is still intensely studied. But basically, you should try to keep an eye on the drink and to control it for the best results.

This means that you can prepare the mix a couple of times per week in the recommended dosages. Although many tutorials will show you larger quantities of coconut oil being used with coffee, you already know that you will have to limit the quantity to a tablespoon or less each day.

How to Make Coffee With Coconut Oil?

If you have ever tried to make the drink yourself, you will know that oil and water do not mix very well. This is where many people have actually started blending the mix for better consistency.

Thus, you can have a refreshing coffee drink with ice and coconut oil. Even more, you can add various sweeteners such as vanilla. But it will also be important to consider that this mix may not be the healthiest option since you want to control the level of fats and sugars you consume every day. This will then mean that you can blend the coffee, but in smaller quantities than what you may expect.

This is why it may be good to stick to a single cup of coffee which you can control with a single tablespoon of coconut oil. For added antioxidants content, you can even add cinnamon.

This will prove to be one of the best solutions when it comes to a modern approach with one of the oldest spices used around the world. Even more, it will be important to know which other spice you can add and you should definitely limit milk-replacers or other sweeteners as your drink will come with a dangerous level of caloric content.

Types of Coconut Oil

Although coconut oil is quite versatile, there are a few processes which can impact its concentration and purity. This is why you can use virgin coconut oil from a reputable manufacturer. This will save you time when it comes to maximizing the taste and consistency of your drink. Generally speaking, you should be able to use any type of coconut oil and simply ensure that you mix it well to melt or simply blend it together with your coffee drink.

Top Tips for the Coconut Oil in Coffee Mix

When it comes to the best results, you will need to limit the consumption of the drink. At the same time, you will need to follow the simple guidelines for caloric intake. Even more, it will actually prove important to choose a good coconut oil source which comes from a reputable manufacturer.

Even more, it will also be important to limit the consumption of coffee as well. Since too much coffee can have a negative effect on your body as well, you will need to see the best times to consume it and maybe have a day or two per week when you add coconut oil for added energy.

In the end, it will be important to understand that the calories of the coconut oil will not simply melt away when you add them to your coffee. This means that you will need to keep an eye on your caloric intake and with simple drinks, it is even easier to achieve than with some solid foods.

For this purpose, you should also try to discuss the issue with your doctor or with a nutritionist to see the best long-term approach if you want to consume the drink for a few years. At the same time, it will also important to not replace actual meals with the mix and lay the foundation of a healthy diet with solid meals through the day. This means that the drink can be a good option, but only if you fully control it.

Ovarian cancer affects thousands of women every year. While every case is different, the later stages will prove more difficult to treat. At the same time, cancer will be mostly discovered in these later stages. The main problem with it is that cancer may not come with significant visible signs in the first stages.

When it comes to the internal organs, they will have the room to grow with the tumor until the stages 3 and 4. This means that it will be important to be able to detect cancer early on. Even more, regular doctor appointments can prove to be one of the few steps you can take when it comes to improved chances of ovarian cancer detection. Some common early signs can include:
<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5319875377392986" data-ad-slot="2771463841" data-ad-format="auto"></ins>

Bleeding

When it comes to serious signs of ovarian cancer, irregular periods can prove a sign you need to see a doctor. The bleeding can even come two times per month instead of one time per month. Many women experience extra bleeding even during menopause.

This is why it will prove important to know to see a doctor if this is your concern. Since most ovarian cancer cases are actually found with women over the age of 63, this can thus be a main concern to address. But this doesn’t mean young women are safe from the cancer.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5319875377392986" data-ad-slot="2771463841" data-ad-format="auto"></ins>

Bloating

There are many causes of bloating and it may be very difficult to self-diagnose or even diagnose by a doctor on a minimal investigation. Some ovarian cancer patients have reported serious bloating for long periods of time before diagnosing the condition. This is why it can actually be important to know to see a doctor if your bloating does not diminish. Many women can simply associate it to a certain diet, which makes it even harder for the doctors to intervene in time.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5319875377392986" data-ad-slot="2771463841" data-ad-format="auto"></ins>

Satiety

When it comes to bloating, one of its actions can lead to the increased feeling of satiety. Thus, you will need to see if your lack of appetite can be influenced by an early stage of ovarian cancer. Since there is less room for the stomach to expand, this can be understandable to a certain degree. It will also be important to know what to look for when it comes to satiety, especially since you might be eating the same foods and experiencing different symptoms.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5319875377392986" data-ad-slot="2771463841" data-ad-format="auto"></ins>

Cramps

As with any other symptoms, cramps can be easily associated to regular problems that come with period. Even more, they might come in variation which means they will be harder to link to ovarian cancer. Pain in the lower abdomen represents a serious concern and this is why you will need to ensure regular visits to the doctor if you feel you have unusually strong cramps or simply cramps that are different to what you may experience with your period.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5319875377392986" data-ad-slot="2771463841" data-ad-format="auto"></ins>

Lower Back Pain

Although lower back pain can come from many causes, even from a sitting job, it will be important to understand that unusually strong back pain is a reason of concern. As the tumor expands, the tissues of the lower back can be affected and this is why it will be important to see the type of pain you experience.

For example, many women can even wake up during the night and they can also struggle to maintain proper posture. Even more, if you take pain medication, you will definitely need to discuss with your doctor if the pain continues.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5319875377392986" data-ad-slot="2771463841" data-ad-format="auto"></ins>

Breathing Problems

Another symptom which may be caused by the expansion of the tumor might come with breathing difficulty. This means that you will need to see if your breathing difficulties are a reason of concern if they persist for more than a few days. At the same time, at this stage, you may be already experiencing stage 3 or 4 cancer.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5319875377392986" data-ad-slot="2771463841" data-ad-format="auto"></ins>

Indigestion

Problems with digestions for a long period of time can be a signal of serious problems, even if not ovarian cancer. For example, some patients recall having gas for months before being diagnosed with the cancer. This is why you will need to take your symptoms seriously and schedule a doctor’s appointment as soon as possible.

Irregular Toilet Visits

When it comes to the going to the toilet, many women experience different problems which can come with serious concerns, especially if there is no need to actually go. The explanation can come from the simple fact that ovarian cancer will be close to the bladder, impacting the need to urinate. This is why you will need to schedule a meeting with a doctor if you are urinating more than usual without a major change in your diet.

The signs of ovarian cancer will be difficult to interpret if you lack proper knowledge of them. At the same time, many of these symptoms can be easily overlooked, especially if they don’t persist in time. This is why it will be actually important to know what to look for in the symptoms. Bloating can be easily associated with reactions to certain foods for example. Breathing problems might be a stronger signal that something is wrong and this is why you will need to ensure you are actually capable to speak with a doctor since many of these symptoms will only be discovered in stages 3 and 4.

Even more, women who are experiencing serious bleeding problems in menopause should also book regular doctor visits since they are the main group of potential sufferers. There are other symptoms which can signal ovarian cancer but it will be important to learn to listen to your body and see the changes as soon as they happen without ignoring them. Even in early detection, the measures can come with limited benefits and this is why late detection will diminish your chances considerably. Most women should actually have regular doctor’s appointments even without these symptoms.

Yoga has been a pastime of many people who seek to relax and workout at the same time for a long time. The fact that it is not too strenuous makes it a personal favorite. There are plenty of benefits that come with doing yoga, but I have to admit the most surprising one was when I realized that I could use it to drop some pounds.

Then it made sense. At the end of the day yoga is a physical activity. By its nature you will of course end up burning calories even if it’s not at a high rate. But the question is How Many Calories Does Yoga Burn? Well the answer is that there is no definitive response to that. It is all determined by a number of varying factors. Let’s consider a few of these below.

Yoga Styles

There are many different ways do yoga. In fact the numbers could surprise you. And they keep rising as though people in India spend their time inventing new styles. For convenience sake, I will just speak about the four main types. Each has its own level of demands on the human body and will therefore burn calories according to these demands. These include:

Hatha yoga

It is the most common type and is often used to help the body and mind relax and find calm. It is also the easiest to perform and requires one to maintain certain postures while regulating the breathing. With hatha yoga you can burn anywhere from170 to 300 calories in an hour.

Vinyasa Yoga

This involves different postures. The practitioner changes from one of these postures to the next while regulating their breathing. The four postures make it a bit more demanding than the hatha yoga hence, you can lose up to 580 calories in an hour.

Bikram Yoga

With bikram yoga you will be exposed to different poses for a period of 90 minutes. You will also perform the postures in hot conditions. It is easy to expect to lose quite a high number of calories thanks in part to the hot temperatures. These could be between 400 and 480 calories burn in an hour ranking it in second place from vinyasa yoga.

Ashtanga Yoga

This type of yoga is similar to vinyasa yoga in that you will go through different poses and postures while also coordinating your breathing. It’s in third place as far as calories burnt are concerned with you losing from 300 to 400 in one hour.

Duration of Yoga

Any physical activity will result in you losing more calories the longer the duration of time you spend doing it. This is the same with yoga.

The average number of calories burnt in a course of 30 minutes while doing yoga is 300. If you decided to double this, to an hour, you will end up burning up to 600 calories.

If you are looking to shed a few pounds then focus on performing yoga for an extended duration of time. Some sessions go for 90 minutes and will work great for you.

How Much You Weigh

A study done by researchers at Harvard medical has shown that the rate of burning calories is not the same. Different individuals will burnt calories according to their weight with heavier people burning more within the same duration of time and vice versa.

Whether it aerobics or yoga, more calories will be burnt by larger people. This is what makes answering the question as to how many calories does yoga burn a bit complicated and as we said it depends on different factors.

Apart from losing weight let’s take a look at few other benefits of doing yoga.

Better Flexibility

One of the other main benefits of doing yoga is the improvement you will get with your body’s overall flexibility. Yoga includes stretching yourself. Do this a few times and you will notice that you are able to touch your toes; something that you would have otherwise never been able to do.

By stretching, you loosen up your muscles and connective tissue. Tough ligaments can cause you to have a less than ideal posture while a tight hip may result in unnecessary strain on your knee joint as a result of leaning too much on one side.

Cartilage and Joints

Yoga allows you to make full body movements. Some of these enable you to work areas that otherwise do not receive enough movement during your normal day activities. Take the cartilage in your joints, without the proper supply of nutrients they can degenerate over time and lose condition. This could lead to arthritis.

By moving the joints, you squeeze out the old fluid and receive fresh one from the surrounding tissue. This will help preserve them and prevent future problems.

Healthy Spine

The spinal disks or vertebrae act to absorb most of the shock. These can compress the nerves once they start to lose their suppleness and flexibility. To counter this yoga exercises such as the asana practice will keep the vertebra supple. Less pressure on the nerves will mean that the spine remain in the best condition for years to come. So go out there and do those forward bends, twists as well as back bends.

Conclusion

Yoga is a great way to relax both your body and your mind. However, while it does come with added benefits some of them including weight loss, yoga should not be approached from this perspective. But, Does Yoga Burn Calories? Yes.

For one, to be able to reap the full benefits of yoga, you need to have singular mindsets, not thinking of how much you are losing pounds.

The nature of yoga is that it is not as strenuous. While you will lose a few pounds, they will not be enough to cause a significant change. The best thing to do is to incorporate yoga into your workout sessions. Better yet practice yoga during the days that you are resting. This will help you stretch out your muscles better while still losing the few pounds.

This is a question that many people who are intent on developing a good and reliable workout schedule often have to face. A few things should always be in your mind. First, the more the squats you do the higher the chance of making progress and achieving your goals. Second, you should provide yourself with enough time to rest. So read more to find out How Many Squats Should I Do In A Day.

This resting period is when your muscles are recovering, healing and growing. Working on the same muscle groups every other day is not ideal. You exert excessive pressure on your muscles and the result will likely be a decrease in performance and progress. This is why it is not right to do squats everyday.

So what kind of schedule should you observe? Well, before we look into that, let’s first understand what a squat is.

The Squat

Essentially, a squat is a training movement that exercises your lower body. It works on the different muscle groups in your legs. These include the inner thighs, the hamstrings or back thigh, quadriceps or front thigh, as well as the gluteal and soleal.

A squat is what is referred to as a compound exercise. These types of exercises work on more than a single muscle group. As to how many squats should I do in a day, I believe it depends on how well you work these muscles by maintaining proper motion and form. It will also depend on your training goals. Let’s consider some of these goals now.

Increasing Strength

If your goal is to improve on the strength of the lower body, then you should start by training and doing squats every second day or 3 times a week.

Aim for 3 sets of between 8 and 12 reps. when performing the squats, take at least 3 minutes to rest and recover between the sets.

The weight should be between 60-70% of 1 RM or Repetition Maximum and you will start to see yourself making progress after a few weeks.

Gaining Muscle

In order to achieve hypertrophy or gaining more muscle, you should also begin by training 3 times a week. Take the days that you are not working out to rest for the muscles to recover and grow.

This time you should do more sets of between 3 and 6. Increase the reps as well to between 8 and 12. The resistance should be between 70-80% 1RM. Remember to take time between the sets to rest preferably for 2 to 3 minutes.

By following the above schedule, you will see progress in the development on more muscle in your lower body after a few weeks.

Improving Your Endurance

Some people simply want to increase their muscle endurance. For this doing squats can help significantly. Start off by training 2 or 3 times a week.

Aim for high reps of 10 to 15 with 2 or 3 sets. Also take 2 to 3 minutes between each set to rest. The resistant should be moderate to light.

Increasing Power

If your goal is to increase the power on your lower body, squats will help you achieve this as well. You will need to train 2 to 3 days in a week while using the free days to rest.

Aim for 2 to 3 sets of 3 to 6 reps. between the sets take at least 2 minutes to rest. The weight should be light with a 0-60% 1RM.

Let’s get to the juicy part. You will work towards getting more power by performing the reps in an explosive fashion. Do them rapidly combining with lower body strength training. You can start to feel results in a few weeks.

Some Benefits of Doing Squats

Doing squats is one of the simplest ways to exercise and remain fit. They are inexpensive in that you can do them with no gym subscription or special equipment. Not only do they help you work on your lower body and legs, they offer benefits to your entire body. Let’s consider some of these benefits below.

Helping You to Build Muscle in Your Entire Body

I agree that squats are mainly meant for your lower body, but their benefits are not limited and will be apparent all over your body. When you squat with heavy weights for example you develop an anabolic movement. Human growth hormone and testosterone are released into the body which helps you to develop more muscles even on your upper body.

It Is a Functional Exercise

What this means is that other than learning to operate the various equipment in the gym which do not replicate natural movement, squats actually do. Ever since our earliest days as hunter gatherers, we have been utilizing squatting, whether it’s during stalking prey or picking edible stuff on the ground or making tools.

In our daily lives we will always find a situation that requires us to squat. Doing the exercises therefore makes our everyday lives easier.

Proper Posture, Balance and Mobility

If you want to stay mobile for a long time to come even during old age, then you need to have strong legs. One of the ways you can achieve this is through squats.

Doing squats works out the core of your body which also serves to give you proper posture while providing you with good balance.

Conclusion

As to the question How Many Squats A Day, it all depends on your fitness goals. Doing squats can be for varied reasons as we saw above. It could be for improving on muscle endurance, power, or for increasing muscle mass. Once you have identified your goals, only then can you truly tell how many squats you need to do.

One thing should be clear however, that squats should never be done every other day. You should give your body enough time to recover.

Persistence and self motivation is the key to making progress. Results will not become apparent for at least 4 weeks. Keep pushing and you will definitely achieve your fitness goals.

There is a myth that has been flying around the internet and this time bananas are on the receiving end. It states that these good ol’ fruits can actually make you fat. Is there truth in this, Do Bananas Make You Fat? Well let me say that this categorically. Bananas do not make you fat.

So worry not. If you enjoy having a banana for breakfast, please carry on without any guilt in your conscience whatsoever. Where did this idea come from? Well that’s what we are here to find out by looking into the qualities of this fruit in greater detail.

Bananas and Carbs

This relating of bananas with carbs is what brought about the idea that the fruits can actually make you fat. The carbs are from the natural sugars and starch that are contained in bananas. What you need to understand is that processed sugar is readily absorbed into the bloodstream and consequently results in high sugar levels.

On the other hand, the sugar in bananas is unprocessed and natural. This doesn’t easily get absorbed meaning that your blood sugar levels remain at relatively healthy levels. What’s more, the sugar in bananas is fructose which is converted into glucose which is then turned into an energy source helping your body get the fuel it requires.

The calories contained in regular sized bananas range from between 90 to 140. Compared to most other foods, this is way less and is not nearly enough to get you fat.

So Why Do You Get Fat?

Adding weight is as a result of many factors. Genes will also determine the rate at which you add weight. However, the main way people put on bulk is by eating more calories than the body uses. The extra energy is stored as fat and as a result you gain weight.

To avoid processed foods and eat more natural sugars and carbs such as..you guessed it bananas! These will mean that all the nutrients will be used by the body; compared to processed foods where some nutrients end up getting killed.

Bananas and Nutrients

As we saw above bananas come packed with natural sugars. This makes them an excellent choice before your workout or right before you start your day. They give the body the necessary boost needed to function properly.

They also have natural fibers that help to boost your digestion and are way more efficient at this compared to the fibers found in cereals.

Bananas are also a great source for potassium, perhaps the easiest source. You would be shocked at what you are missing out on by lacking enough potassium in your diet. For starters, it helps to ensure proper muscle and nerve function as well as aiding the heart in working well.

By consuming regularly, you also get amazing and healthy looking hair, skin and nails.

Speaking of the Skin

Bananas also come with other nutrients such as vitamin A and vitamin C. This helps to prevents wrinkles from developing on the skin.

Not only that but you still get the B vitamins as well as iron both of which contribute towards a healthier looking you.

Bananas Will Help You Lose Weight

Yes. You heard me! The starch contained in bananas is digestion resistant. This means that it will pass through your body and come out the other end without really doing much. While the other nutrients such as sugar and minerals such as potassium are absorbed into the body.

When you eat bananas you don’t get soluble starch found in cereals. You feel full because of course the space in your tummy is filled up. The starch is not absorbed so no extra calories are absorbed.

Now you are likely thinking that you can get away with eating bananas the whole day now because we’ve agreed that they can help you lose weight. But here is the thing, eating a whole lot of them will invariably raise your daily calorie intake. What this means is that you will end up adding weight as your total calories consumed has risen.

The best thing to do is to eat just a few bananas every day but never too many. Two will do just fine and will provide your body with the energy it needs.

Glycemic Index

This refers to the rate at which different foods raise the blood sugar levels. Anything below 55 is said to contain low GI or Glycemic index. While 70 is considered high. Between 56 and 69 is medium.

Consuming foods with high GI results in weight gain as well as other health concerns such as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Depending on how ripe the fruit is bananas have a GI of 42-62.

Other benefits of consuming bananas include:

When You Want to Work Out

If you want to quickly top up your energy reserves for that weight training, then bananas are the quickest way to go. The sugars will be converted into glucose as we saw earlier which will then be stored in your cells.

If you ate more bananas than you actually need then the extra glucose will be stored in the liver. This will later be released slowly helping to provide you with the energy your body needs.

Boosting Your Mood

Ever tried making a banana a regular morning snack and saw what happened? Your mood is always uplifted. This is because of a special compound called tryptophan. It raises your moods and makes you feel happier.

Chop up the banana into slices and put them in your yoghurt. Add some oats perhaps and enjoy in every sense of the word.

Late Night Snack

Do you have trouble sleeping? Try munching on a banana an hour or so before going to bed and it shouldn’t be so hard. This is thanks to the chemical melatonin which helps to put you into a sleepy mood in the evening.

Conclusion

We can now agree that bananas are an important part of our diet. They provide potassium and give us healthy looking skin and hair. They also allow our hearts and muscles to function properly thanks to an improved nervous system. So, Will Bananas Make Me Fat? The answer is no.

If you have been going shopping and over looking picking up bananas, now is the time to make things right and pack a bunch.

Running Day After Leg Day

I’m sure many of you out there know what I’m talking about when I say leg days are the worst. It’s like a day chosen to make life miserable filled with the worst kind of workouts ever designed by the evil human mind.

Back in the day I used to simply loathe leg days and I would do whatever I could to skip them. This went as far as faking illness but I did little to convince anyone. The only thing that saved me from constant ridicule was the fact that otherwise I really enjoyed training to be fit.

When I saw the true enthusiasts running after a leg day, I thought they must’ve been under something or aliens discoed as human beings.

Many people wonder if there is anything good that comes for Running After Leg Day. Let’s find out the truth behind this question.

What Is Involved in a Leg Day?

The legs contain the largest muscles on the human body which is quite understandable considering they support the weight of the entire body. Thighs, glutes, calfs and hamstrings make up the main muscles in your legs.

Since they are so large, it takes a lot of heavy weights to work them out. This invariably means that you will have to consume plenty of calories to keep up the training.

Some of the exercises involved in a leg day include calf raises, power cleans, overhead squatting and reverse lunges. If you want to see good effects you need to increase the load and push heavier weights.

At the end of a leg day, you will likely come out with very sore legs as a result of the lactic acid that accumulated in your muscles during the workout. This takes time to be taken out of the body and this is why running after leg days is so strenuous.

Avoid Injuries

While a leg day comes with high demands which very easily could prevent you from taking part in after leg day running, there are a few procedures you can follow to prevent you from acquiring injuries. These center around a well prepared workout schedule. Let’s consider what it entails.

Warm up time

Some people overlook this crucial step in your training but it is just as important as pushing weights. Warming up gets your muscles ready. It means that when you finally get to pushing heavy loads, your muscles will not be stiff. Such stiffness causes the muscles to rupture easily.

Stretching time

This is another important part of the training that isn’t taken as seriously as it should. Note that you can include stretching in your warm up session or after training. One main benefit that you get from this is the improved blood flow. The muscle fibers are aligned in their proper place meaning that over time you will not wake up in pain.

Using the right weights

Indeed if you want to see the best results, you will have to push heavy loads. However there is a danger in going beyond what your body can actually handle. Pick heavy weights but not too heavy.

Taking time off

Never forget to take regular breaks throughout your workout. These prevent you from straining your muscles excessively. The best time is after completing a rep.

How to Recover Quickly from a Leg Day

The huge demands that trainers expose themselves to on leg days can make them immobile for the next day. If you pushed heavier weights, you can take even longer to recover. There are however a few things that you can do to ensure that you reduce your recovery time and be able to take part in running after a leg day. Let’s look at these below:

Sleep

Your body regenerates fastest when you are asleep. This is why you need to get plenty of sleep after training. The muscles will take in the nutrients they need to grow bigger while getting rid of the excess lactic acid through respiration.

Eat enough protein

Speaking of enough nutrients, proteins are among the most important. They contain the necessary building blocks to help your muscles to recover and grow. The recovery process is faster with the right nutrient consumption.

Plenty of water

Drink water as often as you can. The lack of it lowers your metabolic rate resulting in less appetite. As a result, the muscles will not get all the nutrients they require and the recovery rate will be slow. Ensure that you are properly hydrated.

Massage

While you wouldn’t consider this an important part, getting a massage will help relax your muscles. Blood flow to the damaged muscles is increased helping to transport the necessary nutrients more efficiently. Oxygen is also delivered to the leg muscle groups allowing the excess lactic acid to be taken out.

Anti-Inflammatory medication

Sometimes the pain is so severe that you will need to consult a doctor. When it gets to this, chances are you will not be running after the leg day. Simply get the right prescriptions from a qualified physician and take time to rest. Only then can your muscles recover quickly.

Is It Safe to Run after a Leg Day?

Let’s get one thing straight. It is not a requirement to run after a leg day. You can do so if you so choose. However there are a few points to keep in mind when running after a leg day. You will be working on the same muscles for two consecutive days. This is highly advised against.

Avoid running for too long. The run should be less strenuous to give the leg muscles a chance to continue the recovery. You will also be able to avoid other injuries and inflammations.

Ensure that you do not run more than normal no matter how motivated you feel.

Conclusion

By following the steps laid above for you, you can avoid skipping on running after a leg day. You will be able to recover better and quicker will little to no cases of injury.

There are plenty of benefits that come from lifting weights. From increasing the bone density to helping you lose weight to even helping you gain weight. Many athletes must have at least some form of weight training in their training routine.

However, a question that some people tend to be concerned about is, Does Lifting Weights Stunt Growth? Concerned parents, teenagers and average people would benefit from the answer. Well, this is the question we are here to answer so sit back, relax and lets go through a few points shall we?

First off it’s a Myth

Yeah it is. This idea that lifting weight somehow slows down the growth rate in young developing humans is in the least absurd. It has been around for decades and seems to have gained popularity as more and more people get into weight training.

The theory is that since kids and teens have growth plates at the end of their bones that promote bone development, too much pressure can cause these plates to solidify or as they call it mineralize sooner due to fractures that many occur in them. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

What Exactly Happens?

Well, the truth is weight training for young and developing humans is actually beneficial in promoting growth. The growth plates will not at any one time get injuries and solidify earlier than usual. The only thing that can cause injuries is if the young human uses the wrong form and stance.

The growth plates, also known as epiphyseal plates are located at the end of the bones in young humans. As the days go by, these divide and grow otherwise known as regeneration. The process is what causes the child or adolescent to grow. Once you reach your maximum height, the growth plates harden or mineralize and these will from the ends of your bones.

Lifting weight even in grownups causes the production of human growth hormone. This helps the muscles that you are working on to heal after the strenuous exercise. In younger people, the human growth hormone will indeed help repair torn muscles while at the same time boosting growth and height.

Growth hormone is not the only chemical we are looking at here. There is also testosterone. This hormone plays a part in causing bone development and muscle growth. While it indeed does cause the growth plates to harden it occurs at such a minimal rate that the effects are usually countered by the human growth hormone.

If you plan on weight training at a young age, start off with eating right. Eat a lot of vegetables, fruits and healthy foods packed with carbs, proteins and vitamins. Such ideas that weight lifting can cause slow and stunted growth are to be dispelled. Regular exercise and a healthy diet allow the children and teens to reach their optimum height. It is the kids that laze around doing nothing while having poor eating habits that are at the greatest risk of not attaining their full height.

A few Tips for Training with Teens

The most important part of any weight training program for teens is to have a supervisor. Teens will likely rush to try out every weight they can find. They are therefore likely to injure themselves. A supervisor or personal trainer will tell them what to do as well as what to avoid and by doing so reduce their chances of getting injuries by up to 50%.

When at the gym, teens should be encouraged to start out with the smallest weights or simply with no weights at all. This will help them learn the right form to use before they progress to larger weights. They can start doing higher reps with little to no weights. By doing so, they continue to learn the right way to lift weights.

Especially to avoid are Olympic lifting and power lifting. These can very easily result in injuries. The teen should also avoid using the various weight machines at the gym as they are designed for adults and not for the small and growing bodies of teens.

Overweight Teens

If you are a teen who feels that they should shed some pounds then weight lifting is one great option at your disposal. Combine this with being active. Check out the total number of calories you consume. Chances are that they are quite high if you have to deal with weight issues. Drop them to around 2000 and stay active.

When at the gym, start with using the treadmill. When lifting weights your focus should be on high reps. With the right supervision, you will be able to pick weights that allow you to go for 15 reps. Take time to rest between the reps. The right type of motivation from your trainer, friends and family will push you towards your goals and you will be able to make progress.

Average Sized Teens

By average I mean caught somewhere between an athletic build and a sedentary body. The best course of action for you is to pick a more intense workout. Begin by weight lifting just 3 days in a week and doing high reps of 10.

Avoid compound movements at all times. This is because they are a bit more demanding and when done the wrong way could result in injuries. You will get to these as you progress on your training.

Check your diet as this is important too. The ratio of your carbs to your proteins should be the same. Ensure you do not allow yourself to stay hungry as this will cause the body will conserve its energy.

Conclusion

What we can learn from all this is that weight training can actually improve on the growth rate of children and teens. This in part is thanks to the extra growth hormone that is released.

All children should therefore have weight training in their routine provided they receive the right kind of guidance. This will help them stay safe while learning the basic forms.

With a little motivation, the teens can start making good progress.
