The NordicTrack FreeStride Trainer FS9i

With years of gym experience, I couldn’t possibly choose a novice-grade trainer. I needed a machine that’s compact, versatile, with plenty of features and functions. I was keen on a product that offered value for money and was reluctant of anything that was advertised as cheap. The NordicTrack FreeStride Trainer FS9i seems to fit my definition of a suitable fitness trainer.

Who can use the NordicTrack FreeStride Trainer FS9i?

The FreeStride FS9i isn’t the right choice for the beginners. The low-impact workout that this trainer with 20lb flywheel offers is ideally suited for people, like me, who are not absolute beginners. Furthermore, the check strap that’s included in the package constantly monitors the heart rate and ensures it stays in the normal range throughout the workout session. This is a function, I wish in every fitness trainer.

Introducing the NordicTrack FreeStride Trainer FS9i

The FreeStride FS9i model is a premium-grade 3-in-1 trainer launched by NordicTrack. It’s the top-end model of the FreeStride Series. It has two less expensive counterparts – the FS5i and FS7i. The features that make this a premium trainer includes the center-drive design, heart rate monitor, unique floating suspension system, 38-inch stride, 26 resistance levels, automatic 10% incline, 38 built-in workout programs, iFit integration, and the 10-inch web-enabled touchscreen console.

NordicTrack FreeStride Trainer FS9i is one of the best selling products of the series. I was equally impressed with the features and the warranty. The 3-in-1 trainer comes with a 2-year warranty for labor, 5-year warranty for parts, and lifetime warranty for the frame.

Features and Benefits

Snap Assembly: It would take you less than 10 minutes to assemble the trainer. Most others trainers would require an hour or even more.

Long Stride: The FS9i comes with a 38-inch long stride that can accommodate users of any height, well, almost any height.

Resistance: Almost anyone can use this trainer. The 20lb flywheel offers a wide range of resistance levels for calorie burning, muscle toning, and endurance training.

Controls: The various features and functions of the FS9i trainer can be controlled via the handlebars or the console.

Console: The web-enabled console has a 10-inch touchscreen that allows you to watch workout videos, access customized workout programs, monitor progress, and check social media messages and emails.

Multiple Benefits: The premium trainer combines the benefits of three fitness machines – the elliptical, stepper, and treadmill.

Incline: The automatic incline is a special function of the FreeStride FS9i Trainer. It mimics the natural (outdoor) conditions and activates various muscle groups. The pedals, iFit app, and Google Maps work in tandem to give the outdoor feel. With the help of Google Maps, you can pre-set the program using the iFit app. The pedals will work according to the program.

Chest Strap: The NordicTrack FreeStride Trainer FS9i includes a chest strap that monitors and ensures the heart rate is in the right zone during the workout.

Final Thoughts

The NordicTrack FreeStride Trainer FS9i has all the best features of FS5i and FS7i plus something more. It comes with heart rate monitor, 20lb flywheel, and plenty of built-in apps, workout programs, and resistance levels. I am a regular gym buff, so I was looking for a premium trainer, and the FreeStride FS9i suits my needs quite well.
